Only UMA/Wireless now
Not sure where to post this as I saw no T-mobile area and this seemed the closest place I could find.
I have a T-mobile family account with 3 lines 2 with data (required to use wi-fi on our nicer phones). Because I'm rural there has NEVER been any data service here only voice. We replaced our home phones with cell phones about 10 years ago and we have been happy with just using cell phones. My main concern was security if someone broke down in a car the phones would be handy (rural) and we have enough min for home use. We use wi-fi at home for our data. We've been happy with our service for a very long time.
Then late last month ALL cell service stopped. No signal at all. The only way we can make calls are from UMA and wi-fi calling inside the house. I called T-mobile and talked with them. After lots of tests on my phone they explained that they "think" T-mobile may of lost it's peering in our area with AT&T and T-mobile now no longer serves our area (reflected in the new coverage map).
The nearest t-mobile tower is in Meadville PA about 20 miles away and only covers half the town. When we are outside we have no coverage at all and wifi calling stopped working for two days last month leaving us with nothing. We are still locked into a 1 1/2 year contract as we were happy with our service (for over a decade) and had no idea we would lose it.
What should we do? Any hope of getting service back or will we have to pay out our no-service contracts?
