2 edits | [dd-wrt] Allow wifi users internet, but no LAN.Ok, at the risk of reposting a question, I've been at this all morning and I can only find solutions that aren't feasible (namely physical setups of equipment).
Here's what I got. The modem is located in our main office building as well as most of our computers. We have another building where there are also office computers, all of which are on the same LAN. Now in that other building is an area for customers where we would like to provide wifi access to. The only methods I've seen (and been able to understand) involve separating the wifi from the LAN using several routers below the modem. But this won't work for me because there is only a single ethernet cable running between the two buildings, so the public wifi router has to be on the LAN--I just don't want them to be able to access it.
WAN --- Router --- Switch --- Computers (Internet and LAN)
L --- Public WiFi Router
L --- Customers (internet only)
I feel like I should be able to go to the main router, select the ip of the public wifi router (which is static) and direct all its traffic out into the WAN, isolating it from the rest of the LAN. But either I don't understand the terms or what is possible or I'm just dumb. I'm pretty sure its not the latter, but when I have to resort to asking questions on forums instead of just reading them I getting pretty desperate.
Can I even do this? |
