AT&T West → [General] Cancelled landline. DSL/phoneline question(s)

Last month I cancelled DSL with att when I switch to CC for internet and the other day I cancelled phone line, so my question is what does att do with the copper wires that I'm not using anymore? Also what do they do with the DSL ports?

The copper wires are just listed as no service. If you move out, the new residents have to have the ability to get POTS voice service. Your DSL ports were probably given to a customer waiting for service within several days of your DSL service shut off.
