said by JoeyD :

there are more people over in the fios-tv forum who have fios dvrs than have tivos.

This comment got me thinking about taking a poll for a better snapshot. It is possible to select multiple answers.

Of course there are more people with FIOS DVRs than with TiVos. Why would someone think otherwise?
Personally I use a couple of Elite/XL4 boxes and a TiVo Premiere. And soon I'll add a TiVo IP STB when they are released later this year.

You will also find that more readers of DSL Reports, as a percentage, use other than VZ STB's than the general population of FiOS subscribers. So this survey is not valid for the general population.

For the record I have...

2 QIP-7232s
1 TiVo HD
1 Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe
1 Silicondust HDHomeRun Prime
1 Hauppage WinTV HVR-1600 (w/ 1st DCT-700)
1 Pinnacle PCTV HD Card (w/ 2nd DCT-700)
1 ATI AIW x800 XT (w/ 3rd DCT-700)

I'm phasing out the 2 QIP-7232s so the only monthly fees left will be 3 CableCARDs since the DCT-700s are free from the old analog elimination. But those are all the devices in the house that are performing DVR functionality.

3 TiVo HDs here.

Thinking about upgrading to at least one Premier Elite + an IP STB once they're released. Could probably replace all 3 receivers with one elite + 2 IP STBs.

Ihave long been considering switching from my current QIP-7232 to a SiliconDust HDHomeRun PRIME setup. I want to get my computer to a state where it is super reliable first, though. If it's going to be my primary DVR, I want it to be bulletproof.

I don't want to build a dedicated HTPC for it.

Don't hold your breath.

Once Verizon adds the DRM to HBO and Cinemax, people are going to be screwed.

Even with the Copy Once flag set, the content can still be streamed any number of times. All of the upcoming Ceton and TiVo products will work just fine with HBO/Cinemax/etc after the change.

Hardly. The only thing it would affect is transfer to another device. You will still be able to stream it to another location.

Um, Verizon isn't adding DRM to anything. HBO is requiring Verizon to set the CCI flag to copy-once...
