Also, they are palm tree towers due to city ordinance, simply because they don't want them looking ugly.

This app, Antennas, will show you nearby towers as well as the one you're currently connected to.

Cell towers disguised as trees, hidden in church steeples, etc, etc are almost always going to be because of zoning-type rules in the city they're located in.

It does work on Verizon 3G (it's open and working on my phone as I type this). I used to use it a lot and I do recall when I got a 4G phone that it lacked 4G support...

Oh well...doesn't work on mine, and the site says it doesn't work on Verizon CDMA.

I have a Droid Razor with ICS not rooted, and it does nothing.

Also have my phone set to not look for 4g at all with some app.

Had same problem on the original Droid before I got this Razr.
I do have the settings allowing it to know my location (for testing this app)

Not sure why I cant get it to work on two different phone, but you can

The attached image shows it running and indicating my current location (blue outline circle) and the tower I'm connected to (pink fill circle).

What are your settings if you don't mind me asking. Like is gps on, Verizon location on or off.
I do want this to work on my phone but I think I have tried everything.

Oh wait, I see your gps is on...wonder if that has something to do with it. Mine is never on unless I need for navigation.
I will try it on when I get off work.

EDIT

just did it here at work with everything on. Tower is about 1 1/2 air miles from me.(I can see it from here) But all it shows is where I am. Don't know what I am doing wrong
(keeping fingers crossed)

The GPS function in Android is "smart". You can safely enable it and it will only turn fully "on" when an app needs it. In this case, the Antennas app turned it "on".

There's another app called "Open Signals" or something similar to that. It works on Verizon with all network types (3G, 4G, etc). I noticed that Antennas app hasn't been updated since 2010.

Thanks for the info. Maybe they will update it some day to work on all phones. It doesn't work on mine for sure.

Verizon lte was this fast for a long time, until everyone started getting lte phones around here.

The tower doesn't need to be unloaded, just not loaded as much as they are currently..
