Trash removal question

I do not want this to be a political discussion (as this relates to a debate on another forum not on this site relating to controversial trash fee charged by the city of Springfield, MA).

I am looking more to find out the cost of residential trash removal for people that don't have the luxury of municipal trash collection.

I am wondering what companies like Waste Management would charge a homeowner for weekly trash removal in an urban/suburban setting.

I pay $16 @ month for once a week service. That gets me 1ea 100 gal barrel from the trash company and I can put out 6ea 55 gal bags. I have a young lady driving my route and she will let you exceed the limits on an ocassional basis. And if I forget to put it out or she is early she will walk the drive and get the company barrel. She gets a nice tip every Christmas.

Weekly garbage service is $74.30 for a 2 month period. A 65 gallon trash container plus a 96 gallon yard waste container and a combined glass/metal/plastic containers and paper recycling container are provided. There are some additional waste related services included in that fee.

Waste Management charges us $58 quarterly for weekly trash service. It includes 3 bins (trash, recycling, yard waste) plus 4 bulky item pickups per year, and chrismtas tree disposal.

We're in an LA suburb. We used to have a couple different trash services to choose from, but Waste Management ate them all up.

I live in a small rural town in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. The rate for trash and recycling was just increased to $8.80 per month. This includes weekly trash pickup of up to five receptacles not weighing more than 50lbs each and recycling every other week. This was an increase of 25 cents per month. This of course upset everyone that regularly posts to the local newspaper's website. The reasoning behind the outrage was that when recycling was started just 2 years ago, there was a promise that the reduced tonnage at the landfill would reduce the tipping fees to a point where the trash fees paid by the residents would actually be reduced. Personally, I still think $8.80 is a really good deal.

Your paying less than $9/month and that includes up to 5 x 50lbs of trash & biweekly recycling ..... that's a steal. I pay $15/month for one 60 gal yardy of trash & recycling, both collected weekly.

Company is Allied Waste Management...used to be BFI - can't remember what the actual name was...Allied took over BFI 2 yrs ago.

I'm in in the $80 per quarter range. Includes weekly garbage pickup, every-other week recyclables pickup. They provide two of big herbie the curbie wheeled containers for the two kinds of pickup. The cost includes some ridiculous varying fuel surcharge.

We have a small local company here. Cost is $24 a month, he supplies big wheeled cans and picks up twice a week. So far, no limit on what he will take. I even put out an old mattress and box spring and he took it. I do tip his guys every Christmas. Recycling is a private operator hired by the township at $85 a year. They also supply wheeled can and pick up once a week.

I pay $71 every quarter for 2 96 gallon bins from Waste Management. Can put anything in them and they can have stuff piled out the top and there are never any issues. My county has a solid waste management program and every homeowner is required to either 1) subscribe to a hauler or 2) show proof they took it to the landfill. The landfill has 2 "free" days a month for residential trash. But by the time you store it and drive it out there, it is cheaper to just pay WM.

Now my parents have a place at Smith Mountain Lake. Trash service there is included in your county taxes, but there is no pickup. You have to take it to one of the "convenience centers", which are just small lots with a bunch of dumpsters on them. I actually prefer this method as when you get trash, you take it then. Plus there are recycling bins and donation bins for clothes etc. And somehow the county keeps these areas pretty clean. And if you have something that is still usable, just set it beside on of the dumpsters and it will be gone.

We pay $41.28 quarterly to Waste Management for once per week pick up of a 96 gallon trash container, a 96 gallon yard waste container, and a 64 gallon mixed recycling container. I can, and need to, request a larger recycling container for free.

Last I looked it was about $16/mo for one 96 gallon trash bin once per month, and a 64 gallon recycle bin bi-weekly. Company is Waste Management.

I wish we could get yard waste pickup, but the city does provide a free yard waste dump that I can haul my stuff to.

Here in Central Florida Waste Management picks up our garbage and recycling. We just received a 96 Gallon garbage bin and 64 Gallon recycling bin and unlimited plant waste. Unfortunately with the delivery of our trash containers we went from two garbage pickups per weeks to one. We pay $18.64 per month which is charged on our water bill.

When I lived in South Florida we had the best deal. We were charged about $180.00 per year which was a line item on our property tax bill. Best part of this arrangement is that property taxes are deductible from one's income on the 1040 form.

Ours is about $54/quarter for a 96 gallon container, extra bags as long as it's not every single pickup, large items once per month, and yard waste included. Recycling is extra, which is crazy since they make money off of those, I would think. So I don't recycle.

We have Waste Management now. Our city decided to negotiate a deal with them and have them exclusively for residential. We used to have 3 or 4 different companies that picked up residential trash.
