JeffMD posted : Well it appears I stumbled onto the cause, although I am still not sure why. My cable modem is a high end one that brighthouse/rr uses for the lightning speed service and it has a full switch/router/wireless access point built in. I had them switch it to gateway mode so I could fully use my netgear but apparently some data types still had trouble finding its way out which was fixed when I told the netgear to turn on RIP.

JeffMD posted : I am having the wierdest problem with my netgear router. I have maybe noticed the occasional non connection when starting diablo 3 in the past, but it always resolved itself by simply reloading it.

I turned my computer on tonight to find out that I couldn't;

a) Load planetside at all. The game connects to a patch server as soon as you start it and the client locks because it is getting no data from it.

b) diablo 3 also stood waiting at the patcher's initialize prompt and eventually timed out saying it could not connect.

c) this is the weirdest, I recently installed teamspeak 3 for my planetside outfit (guild) and the past 2 nights it worked fine but now it REFUSES to connect to the outfit's own server. It WILL connect to other random teamspeak servers.

I pulled my hair out for 4 hours trying to figure out WTF was going on and in the end I discovered directly connecting the computer to the cable modem solved everything, so no everything points at the router.

The majority of settings are on defaults, I have no manual entries in dns tables or port fowarding tables.

Also I am able to connect and log in to other online games like WoW and Tribes: Ascend through the router.
