 | reply to art22gg I just got a message from the program asking me to update. The version it updated to ends in "992". Appears to be newer than the one posted in this thread. --
Oops. Edited to say that my version is 6.0.13992
Looks like this post is for version SEVEN. Wonder why mine didn't update to that version???

Here is the changelog for 7.0.13989 (per topic title)
Bugfix release. This is a highly recommended security update quote: Note: TeamViewer security updates for Windows, Mac andLinux Potential issue fix which can be downloaded in our TeamViewer download area. We recommend to install security updates immediately! This update applies to all TeamViewer packages in version 5, 6 and 7.
As always, the new version can be installed over the previous version on your computer, it is not required to remove the old version before installing the update.

Cudni posted yesterday in the Security Vendors forum. Question about installing over the old version.
When I tried to install ver 7 over ver 6, it gave me a screen with a default (recommended) uninstall old version then install ver 7. I unchecked that and was going to do an install over the top of 6, but kept getting screens that made it appear to me that it was going to walk me through setting up everything again. Wizard, etc.
How does one install over the top of an old version and not have to set up all the settings again?
edit: found this on the Teamviewer site:
Can I use TeamViewer 7 and older versions on the same computer? If you have already installed an older version of TeamViewer it is also possible to install TeamViewer 7 on the same computer without uninstalling the older version. To do this please uncheck the option Uninstall old version on installation of TeamViewer 7. If this is done you can use both versions of TeamViewer on the same computer. Please note that it is not possible to run two different versions of TeamViewer at the same time.
So my question is, how do you install teamviewer 7 OVER ver 6 without uninstalling the old version. Unchecking uninstall old version appears to leave TWO versions on your pc.

I emailed support and got a reply back pretty quickly.
To install the latest version without losing your old settings, you will want to uninstall the old version on your pc BUT make sure that you DON't select the options to remove user settings when uninstalling. You may then download and install the newer version and use your old (retained) settings. This method is what TV calls an over the top install (although you actually remove the old ver). -- GuruGuy |
