JNhome join:2012-07-15 Salinas, CA | [Price] installation costs Moving into a new house, which has been vacant for 2 years. I haven't got any idea whether the existing wire runs are decent. Two of the rooms have no existing cable runs, but will need them.
I'll be ordering the triple play bundle plus one extra HD box. The phone is for my wife's job and will be in her unwired office. The HSI will be in my own unwired office, with a wireless router. I prefer an ethernet connection for my own PC, so I need the modem near me.
The two HD boxes will be in rooms already wired. It's a townhouse, and they don't allow "unsightly"" outside cable runs, so it would probably mean using the attic to drop the two new runs.
What should I expect for an install cost? |

 | reply to JNhome Good luck - I have the same problem in my townhouse. Charter could not wire the second bedroom without an outside cable run, and management would not allow a private electrician to access the attic and drop a line.
The unsightly makeshift solution, since the master bedroom outlet was on the outside wall: a heavy duty adapter/splitter with a cable run for my tv, plus several feet of cable cord wrapped around the walls, down the hall, into daughter's bedroom and split yet again for modem/router and her television. The picture quality was often poor, although her desktop and my laptop had a good connection.
It also nixed the plan for me to work permanently from home when she moved out, as I need a separate outlet for internet and phone, and a dedicated office. Luckily the living room has two outlets, and I have a decorative screen to provide some separation for occasional office work. |

some areas will....around here we do 1 floor fishes (hehehehe)
so basement to first floor, and attic to top floor....aside from that we would some plenum cable next an airduct in a closet, or get creative....
or hire an electrician. -- I'm better than you! |

 | reply to JNhome Try to find the attic on your own at first if Comcast won't run it, what they don't know will never hurt them. Assuming no one falls through the attic into someone else's town home haha. |

| reply to JNhome i forgot to mention if you want that type of install you HAVE to ask over the phone for a custom installation. A tech sent out for a basic installation WONT change it over to a custom installation. Its to much hassle for the tech to fill out all the extra paperwork involved with changing it over. |
