CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County | CoD: MW3 issue... I am about 58% thru the game or so and after doing one scene in particular Where Makarov is killed - Price is moving from the table he landed on - the PC shuts down completely with no warning. No events in the Event Viewer, GPU is at 60C and the scene being rendered is less demanding than the previous fight scenes. Tried it 2 more times and at the EXACT same moment the PC shut down.
Since I was able to play all of the other parts that were FAR more demanding I am 99.999999999% certain it has nothing to do with heat of the CPU or GPU. Logged the GPU temps at 60C and only 37%. Don't have a log for the CPU temps but the PC has been in a far hotter room (daytime with 100+ temps outside) PC room 83 degree ambient) without issue. Inside of PC cleaned out before playing the game as well.
Anyone else have issues at the same point in game play???

»[BF3] EVGA card freezing? possible fix
Try overvolting your card very slightly (like by .05 volts) or reverting the drivers. -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

Anyone have any idea why I 'completed' the single player and it still says I only completed 52.8% complete? -- Brian

KrisnatharokCaveat EmptorPremium join:2009-02-11 Earth Orbit kudos:7 | Sometimes games track "completion" not based on the main quest/storyline progress, but how far you are from completing every single challenge and finding every single hard-to-find artifact in the game. Think Batman.
Are you able to go back and load a save from any point in the game?
Do you have freezing in any other games? -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County | Defragged the cache and verified the game files. I wonder if the UPS is having issues with the added strain of the new video card. I should test that with plugging it into the power strip and see if it gets better.
I played multi-player last night and the PC shutdown 2 times on me - even with lower video settings. -- Brian

CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County | I have the newest drivers. Took the PC off the UPC - with Boinc running, the load on the UPC nearly went to the full 315 watts. |

CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County | reply to CylonRed That did not help - multiplayer and died and did not respawn. Put kid to bed and game back just as the PC shut down. I think I upped the voltage a bit but not positive. -- Brian

KrisnatharokCaveat EmptorPremium join:2009-02-11 Earth Orbit kudos:7 | Try rolling back to the 296 driver, I just did that and it ended up alleviating the freezing in BF3 and DE:HR I was having that required me to over-volt. The newest drivers seem to have a couple of bugs left (kudos to DarkLogix for pointing this out to me). -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

 CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County 1 edit | NM - can't use the 296.10 drivers - they are not for the 670. |

CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County | reply to CylonRed Well - I played with the video and got mixed results of length of time I could play. Last 2 days it was not a very long time. I can't seem to find a utility that will log temps of the CPU\motherboard to see if the CPU is just getting too hot. I have less control of the temp settings with this Asus motherboard than I had with my previous Asus MB.
I am going to update the BIOS and see if it give me more control or is stability goes up. If that does not work then I will see about backing out the driver to the only other driver I can install and see if that helps. -- Brian

 | reply to CylonRed said by CylonRed:Anyone have any idea why I 'completed' the single player and it still says I only completed 52.8% complete? The completion of "Campaign" with MW3 is a fairly strange event. With Makarov hanging from the cable and Price smoking the cigar, and "Objective Completed" appearing in the upper left of the screen, the credits started to roll. At that point, I hit "escape" and chose to return to the main menu. The game gave the prompt that exiting now would mean losing any progress I had made to that point... WTF? So... I chose "Save and Quit" and then went back in to see what it would do. Sure enough, it threw me back to the roof with Makarov and Yuri. Looks like they did not code the end of the game very cleanly, so it's not just you who is seeing this.
As Krisnatharok mentioned, the 52.8% number is a reflection of the amount of "intelligence" you gathered during the game. I ended up with slightly less at just over 50%. Apparently, if you sweep the area while completing an objective there's stuff you can pick up to raise that percentage. You can go back and run each mission again and probably raise that score if you like.
I'm still having great fun running MW3 Survival mode in multi-player co-op. My best run so far in multiplayer co-op is 63 waves on the Underground map. By the time we got to that wave it was 1:30 AM and the other guy and I decided to walk out under the choppers and let them terminate us. We ended up with a world ranking of 112 for that effort (not bad considering the total number of teams playing is over 300,000). It's great fun but a bit time consuming! -- Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. (Charlie Reese) |
