[XPHome] Why is my computer changing my docs to Word 2010?

I was working in a document yesterday and on the phone at the same time. I wasn't paying close attention, but it looks like it changed all of my Word 2003 documents to 2010 which I don't have, so it won't let me edit documents. It also messed up my outlook when I go to reply to an email. An ideas on how to change it back to 2003? Thanks - Lori

The Office Compatibility Pack will let you open and edit documents which are in the newer Office 2007/2010 format.

It could be a file association issue where the .doc extension has been associated with the same handler and .docx.

open my computer > tools > folder options > file types.

change the program associated with .doc back to ms word.
