 | [xbox] lagging bad please help hi i've been lagging really bad for 8 months and can't seem to fix it... i'm in a area where i am limited to services... and i really can't try another company for a while im guessing i live in honolulu but for some reason am only able to get 1 service... im with time warner cable i have extreme package... 30 mbps down and 5 mbps up... i have a asus rtn56u router it is brand new and it's bridged to a motorola gateway surfboard modem sbg6580... i was wondering if theres anything i can do to troubleshoot on my own what could be causing this lag... also settings and things that should be on and off on the router and modem... and i was wondering about those usb sticks that have internet... since i can't get another isp in my area i was wondering if those things would work on a xbox just to see if it's my internet company messing up and not anything wrong with the lan and nat... cause i've had 15 techs over now and they are basically telling me to stop calling it's not their problem...
thanks in advance! |

| Your biggest lag issue is going to be your physical distance from others you play on line.
Also beware these TV's with all the motion enhancements. They cause input lag. You need to use there "Game Mode" / Turn Display Discovery off in the 360 or both.
I stick to Plasma for my gaming.
Using different speed tests servers will give you good data on far you are going to be from other players in terms of round trip time per packet. |

 | hah yeah i understand thanks for the reply... i've been gaming out here for about 6 years on xbox it really never lagged this bad so that's why im thinking something might of went wrong with my house or my isps dns pool or just service in general but they come over and say everythings fine every single time... so im kinda stuck recently i've been playing with an extra splitter and noticed it was better but the upstream power goes a lot higher then before it spikes from about 46 to 53 after i play through the splitter so i think im gonna try getting a dc tap without the spitter my modems specs are at 8-9 downstream power level and 46-48 upstream what would you suggest -4 -6 -9?
thanks in advance |
