[Beginner] Video help

Hey guys,

I'm back with more problems integrating my father's old stuff.

Ancient mini dv camcorder
Firewire cable
Powerbook3,4 with OSX 10.4.6

Ok, the question - is there any way to connect the camcorder through the firewire and have OSX convert it to digital using only the native software so I can burn it to a dvd?

Thanks

I think your only hope with native software is Quicktime. I know iMovie 6 (HD) will do it, as I've done it.

The first thing to do is hook it up then see if QT can see/find the camera. If it does, then you are good to go, I think.

Why not iMovie? I haven't done it in a while, but back in the old days, iMovie would even control the camera through the Firewire.
