What does it actually do?
So it's like a streaming app?
Is it only certain channels, or all channels?
How does it know, does it ask for a login?
This is interesting, depending on how you can watch live tv on it, could be a nice alternative to renting an STB box.

What year is your Samsung Bluray Player? Mine might be too old to get it, I think. Also, I wonder if Samsung TV's have this app, as well. And what was the name of the app? Was it "FiOS TV?"

Finally, does the app Have 26 channels, and 10,000 VOD titles? Or can you watch ALL that you are subscribed to?

Thanks

Mine BluRay is a 2010 C6900, which is 3D. So I doubt that it will receive that app. My 3DTV is 2010 as well, UN55C8000. Both are probably too old technology wise to get it. But here's hoping.

But if anyone can confirm that the FiOS App will work on 2010 models, It would be much appreciated.

Thanks

26 channels? It sounds like those are the same ones available on the Xbox 360.
I wish they would offer VOD instead of streaming channels on these devices. Then I would have a reason to use them.

Doubt it - the app has only been certified with newer 2011 and 2012 models....

That is good to know. I know that I would have never found that out. I def would have thought Only 2012 models of Samsung BluRay Players and TVs were eligible. MAybe my sister can get the TV App then. She has a 2011 TV.

Thanks nycdave

I have the exact same setup. So far, no joy for me.
I also have a 2012 model TV. It doesn't have the FIOS app either. But then my 8000 has HBOGO and the new one doesn't.

A what I can tell, Even though HBO Go is on 2010 and 2011 Samsung Smart TVs, the 2012 models say " Coming soon." As of July 13th.

here is a link to a page I found that has All apps and All TV Brands.

»reviews.cnet.com/8301-33 ··· g-chart/

I hope this helps a bit.

I have a 2011 Smart TV from Samsung but I can't find the FiOS TV app listed. Where in the Smart Hub listing did you find it? Is there a category like "video" or "information" that I should be looking under?

Gee Whiz, an App is an App, why can't they make this for Android?

Said a person who has never written a line of code.

Try to install an iOS app on your droid.

Actually I have written quite a few. Going from iOS to anything I would agree is a climb thanks to Apple's nonsense, but they've already ported it to the XBOX and now some Samsung devices. So it's clearly portable. The brains of it at least. The range of devices on Android makes it make sense.

May depend on who is paying for it.
You think FIOS is paying 100% or is there some split with the device manufacturers?

I really hope this comes to Android, but I use Slingbox already (full control over a dedicated HD Box). So unless quality is better, I'll probably continue to use my Slingbox.

I have a 2012 BD-E5700. What section would I find the app, if I even get it?

NYCDave, I think this URL indicates that it should work on my 2011 model TV but the app does not show up for me:

»www22.verizon.com/Suppor ··· ices.htm

I posted a similar question on the Samsung support website, which seems to contradict Verizon's info, i.e. Samsung says only 2012 models are supported. My model is a PN51D6500.

Is my set certified?

Does anyone know if there are any plans to upgrade this? It works but there are only a handful of channels available and the on demand feature is only for pay movies and does not allow access to free on demand content. Is there a future release to fix this?

It won't be fixed because it's not broken. This is only a little add-on feature to the FIOS service. Verizon isn't going to allow (practically) free alternatives to their rented STB's.

WRONG. An app is not an app. Usually they have to be written from scratch for each device they run on. So if there is an iPhone app, an Andriod app, a Blackberry app, a Samsung Blu-Ray app, an XBox 360 app, etc. EACH ONE has to be coded from scratch. There may be some designs and back-end data services that they will share, but your assumption is absolutely inaccurate.

Have you retried to find the application in the last couple weeks? If not, what model of TV/BR do you have?

Flex View is a sub set of VOD, generally the newer/more popular stuff.

I have a UN55D6300 and did not have a FIOS app until I updated the TV firmware.
