Re: Mists of Pandaria relase date announced

Man. I played a resto shaman for all Cata. Had a Rdrood, and disc priest with me for T11. I don't remember normal Chim being hard. We saw him and 1 shotted.

congratz on being special. Thevast majority of guilds out there struggle, and rarely 1-shot progression content.

Just takes some reading. Which apparently a lot of people even need to do that for LFR...

I wouldn't call it hard, but when healers didn't keep people at atleast 10k they died, btw its the same healers that were to scared to attempt heroics.

From a DPS stand point it was easy, and I don't mind lowering my DPS in a non-burn phase for the sake of not dieing. (a toon that not dead does more DPS than a deadone)

But I don't know what was up with the healers the first couple times in there I didn't bandage and I died, so I started bandageing and lived.

the RL even told people to bandage when possible to ease the strain on the healers.

I think mostly they just didn't notice that non-raidwide damage that picks one person at a time so it'd hit someone and then next raidwide damage the toon would die.

You know what I'd be less annoyed at them if the healers had fixed their issue after it was a farm boss, but nope still had to even when the group was doing 5/6 weekly in BWD.

well, it was definitely better to have two strong raid healers and a barrier from the disc

Edit: And my mana tide totem

well, I don't know your guildies, but healing was really broken in T11 so I can understand being gun-shy as a healer. Still, there is no real harm done trying heroics, then switching to normal to continue the farm.

Chimeron was easy when your basic heals hit for 10k.

It was a lot harder when when your basic heal didn't, so you had to have either expensive hots rolling on everyone, or be ready to spam like mad and hope your healers didn't pick the same dude.

that mechanic was the most strict breakpoint in the game: either you can heal 10k with the cheap heal, or you couldn't. Depends on how your gear went.

Feud damage was always manageable. The hard part was just getting splashed people from 1 to 10k before the next splash.

Those are CE perks, not retail box perks.

CE is retail only

Digital Deluxe is like CE but without some of the extras

then theres plain download

and plain retail

but CE is retail only.

Meh, I'll just pick up my CE copy from the local Fry's. They always have a bajillion and one copies. Hopefully some of the RMAH money wills subsidize the game cost.

Digital Download and the welcome to 2005 Digital Deluxe download.

Retail boxes still exist?

Yup. Kinda hard to download a physical book. I won't object to cheap nerd material.

I can't believe its only 39.99! Wasn't Cataclysm 59.99 when it dropped?

For the collectors edition maybe.

Cata was only $39.99 for regular.

So last night I paid for the digital deluxe version. I had thought about the CE but this way I don't have to wait in line or hope that it ships in time to be received on launch date. Plus I figured I wouldn't really use the soundtrack, art book or mouse pad so it wasn't worth the extra money.

Why isn't the regular digital version cheaper than the regular boxed version? There's no box to ship, no shelf space to deal with, no retailer to get a cut. Robbery I tell ya!

That's the route I'm taking as well. I bought the box set Collector's Edition for Cata and only really looked at the artbook like 5 times, gave the mouse pad to my 7 yr old "because it looks cool" and that was it. I'm glad there's more in game things you're getting with this round of Xpac perks.

Mount, pet, forum avatars and banner sigil for other Blizz games. I like it.

Pre-ordered w/ Amazon. Seems they're saying have it the day of release for either 1 or 2day shipping. We'll see. I went for the deluxe version. The extras seem worth it.

Well, this moves up my return date by a couple of months. I thought it would have rolled around Thanksgiving time.

Have they announced a date when they are releasing the 5.0 patch?

Not yet, but the blues stated at one point they only expect the patch to last for a few weeks before the expansion hits. So look for the first or second week of September.

The arena season will have to end first, and they almost always give two weeks notice for that, so you'll have some warning.

this is probably the biggest joke i have seen from blizzard yet. yes i know its official. but the beta is still so unfinished and such a huge mess that i dont see this going well, unless they plan to release it unfinished purposely in order to get people going on it, then after its release giving you a huge patch right away. i have been involved in 3 different betas from their beginnings: EQ2, Rift, and Star Wars...Rift and SW being completely new games; EQ2 - was never a huge fan but it was fun to see the evolution of this game as far as graphics with 2, it went rather smoothly. Rift and SW were completely new games, from scratch - by 2mos to release all they really had to do was clean a few things up, and considering the hype of them they did well enough. but this MoP is a wreck. 3mos before release they closed off the only area near done to revamp it, and less than 2mos to release its still closed; meanwhile, they bump everyone up to lvl 86 in order to allow them to continue lvling in other areas that arent close to being finished.

they have enough room in this expac to make max lvl 95 yet arent doing that, some areas open to lvl 90 toons dont even have any random roaming creatures/critters, many CRITTERS are tameable by hunters, which makes no sense (caterpillars are labeled as boars, etc), talents are constantly being changed on a nearly weekly basis, and theres absolutely no distinction between the 3dif specs of some classes any more (hunters specifically - at least with classes like mages and DKs you can still tell what their specs are simply by watching them), professions arent finished for all and are constantly being changed, gear and drops arent anywhere near being finished as far as 'of the boar' or 'of the tiger' etc, dungeons and raids are buggy as hell still, pvp is a joke (i personally would rather do bg's than raids, and this is a big letdown).... i guess i could go on, but you get the idea. handing over control of development of MoP to a 10yr old shows that they have either completely caved to desire for new child players (which, as the kids grow into it, will make them run from it faster as it wont be sophisticated enough for them any more), or activision has such an inept hand in this that they are deliberately trashing what was a good game. i think with this expac they have finally given me an excuse to tell them goodbye

For those interested in a TL;DR: blah blah blah

Blizzard has a huge tendency to let the PTR (beta or otherwise) sit several "releases" behind. Every expansion release cycle I've been a part of (protip: all of them) they are constantly getting confused at player feedback because the problems reported daily were fixed in an internal build weeks ago...

I'm a software developer (albeit a terrible one) and when I'm going through a development cycle, especially when doing bug fixes, I'm constantly fixing issues that don't make it to the user test environment because that takes time I'd rather spend on getting it right. So I may have 3-5 "releases" sitting out in our development environment that the user has NO idea what's been fixed. Then all of a sudden I take the hour or so to update the test build... this process is infinitely more complex for Blizzard, so I can't fault them for not putting nightlies out.

Well remember Cata, and the 4.0 live?

suddenly they realized that they had to fix the live game because they hadn't fixed in in beta/ptr.

so for maybe a day on live servers fire maged were wildly powerful more so than frost or arcane, so they nerfed the spec bomuses for all 3 with fire getting a double nerf.

I fully expect day1 of 5.0 to be a cluster f***

I find it easier to just expect that any major patch day (and doubly so for expansion patch day) will be a cluster f#ck and that servers will be unstable and there will be another mini patch within 12 hours to fix something that slipped through.

Well I to expect patchdays to have mini-patches soon after but I expect Xpak patches to have far more.

I expect the first week of 5.0 will be flooded with patches and not just in duskwood.

5.0 isn't MoP its the pre-MoP patch MoP will likely be something like 5.0.5
