[HD] New York HD coming to Mercer County, NJ

Just received notification in the mail today that the New York stations of 2,4,5,7,9, and 11 are being added to 902, 904, 905, 907, 909, and 911 to the Comcast of Trenton lineup on 8/17. That's in addition to the usual Philadelphia HD channels in the 800s. Also on the 17th, some additional channels such as PAC12, Crime & Investigation, and 8 more are being added.

On 8/16, the HD channels in the 200s are being removed.

It will be nice to have the channels for both cities in HD.

Wow, that is GREAT news! The main reason I switched to FiOS in 2008 was to receive the NYC channels in HD. Still not sure I'd ever want to go back to Comcast, but, with the NYC channels on board in Mercer County, I'd be willing, at least, to give it serious consideration. (I'm assuming, of course, that the HD additions will apply to all the Comcast systems in the county, not just Trenton.)

Steely-
I knew you'd be loving this post. I remembered it was someone that was always upset over this. Looks like all those open QAM's from the analog reclaim are going to good use. Lord knows there's enough of them!

Well, that confirms my suspicion that the changes will apply to most or all of Mercer County. I'm pretty sure East and West Windsor have a common channel lineup.

BTW, completely OT, but would you by any chance happen to be the same "Stu Dolgon" that frequents another of my favorite forums, the NYRMB?

The New York Radio Message Board, though not as frequent over the past few years.

Have you heard about any New York local channels being added to any South Jersey systems? For some odd reason Comcast added PIX 11(New York City CW affiliate) on channel 254 several years ago to some South Jersey systems in the Philly DMA.

Along with the NYC stations in HD will any of Mercer county be getting WLNY 55 from Long Island (now owned by CBS)in HD on maybe 910? I'm not sure where the would put it if was added it in SD probably somewhere around 250 if they did.

Wow, that *is* good news.

I wonder if that means there may be hope for getting the local Connecticut channels in HD here in Connecticut?
