Steam Outage (almost nightly)

I just recently purchased Left 4 Dead 2 during Steam's summer sale. I have noticed that the game is 'unavailable' almost nightly (around 10pm-11pm when I try to play it). I did sneak in a quick game earlier this afternoon, without any problem. Does anyone else notice Steam's service to be shoddy in the evenings?

never noticed this. Likely your internet connection.

My internet connection is fine. I just did a speed test, and here are the results (hopefully they post properly)

Line quality? Lost packets?

I think it's just with the Left 4 Dead 2 game. I'm playing Portal 2 without any issue. Weird!

by unavailable, do you mean you cant join any servers or the game wont start at all?

This error is NOT a 'connection' issue but a 'software' issue. You'll find other games will work fine. Check out this link for details on how to resolve a 'game unavailable' message. That should be able to fix 95% of all issues.

I did run into this error several months ago with MW3. The "Verify Cache" procedure mentioned as step 5 in the link that Savant mentioned corrected it. Apparently something did not synch up correctly between the Steam server and my local files when I shut down the previous evening and the game became "unavailable".

I had an issue with it last night as well. I tried to load the game and it froze upon loading then it after a shut down I had to repatch something. It didnt make any sense because it worked fine the day before.

This, verify your game cache.

I played around that time with no issues last night.
