 | [Connectivity] Zoom 5341J - Detailed Comcast Activation & How-To I've put together a short collection of notes & screenshoots that detail how to activate the Zoom 5341J on Comcast Cable Highspeed Internet Service.
I've attached the PDF which should be displayed in this message. You can also download the PDF at the following URL

I don't think you would need to be modem specific. -- Ex-Tech at the Beach. I speak for myself, not my former employer. |

 | reply to crazycanuck1 Is the process of going to activate.comcast.com good for both new account activations, as well as replacing a modem on an existing account?
Point-and-click is easier than having to call. |

 | Just can just swap out your old modem, and connect the new one.
Typing in a web address will re-direct you to the comcast activation process where you have to enter your account information.
Once the process is complete, you new modem (hopefully) will be activated.
It's what I did to generate the PDF |

 | reply to crazycanuck1 I just power cycled my Zoom modem and it seems that I got both a new config file and a firmware update (5.5.4.9J)
My speedtest results (connecting my pc directly to the modem) are as follows:
1. dslreports.com

2. Comcast Speed test

3. ShaperProbe
DiffProbe release. January 2012.Shaper Detection Module.
Connected to server 38.107.216.34.
Estimating capacity:Upstream: 2229 Kbps.Downstream: 148797 Kbps.
The measurement will last for about 4.0 minutes. Please wait.
Checking for traffic shapers:
Upstream: No shaper detected.Median received rate: 2165 Kbps.
Downstream: No shaper detected.Median received rate: 46778 Kbps.

The firmware load doesn't control the speeds anyway. The configuration file does. |

graysonfPremium,MVM join:1999-07-16 Fort Lauderdale, FL | My bad, it really is 5.5.4.9J. I only mentioned the speeds were the same because the OP mentioned his were different and he attributes that to a new config file.
One thing I have noticed is that I can't store the username/pass anymore. Every time I go to the page I have to log in. I have cleared cache an cookies, no help. |

graysonfPremium,MVM join:1999-07-16 Fort Lauderdale, FL | Oddly the undocumented Event Log page »192.168.100.1/RgEventLog.asp lets me in without logging in and the other pages are linked there anyway. I'll just use that page as a gateway from now on. |
