[DVR] DVR capacity sucks

So I have 12 programs recorded, mostly 1 hr shows, all are not even HD and I have over 50% used? Is there a way I can hook up an external? I've got 2 Pace TDC 775D boxes.

These DVRs generally suck. Its hard to believe we all pay so much every month for something that works so poorly.

I've heard that you can use the ESATA port on the back to expand storage. I've not tried it though.

Yes, the eSata port works on that DVR.

In general, don't use external HDDs that have combo usb/eSata interfaces, they were problematic. Basically any HDD made for DVRs with eSatat only interface should work.

Here are AVS threads with more details on PACE DVRs:

FAQ:

1. How do I get into diagnostics?

To get to those diagnostics, press the power button, then press the select button within two seconds. To leave, press the power button.

2. What is the largest supported eSATA drive?

Older firmware revisions will only recognize ~700GB. Larger drives will work, but only ~700GB will be recognized.

The latest maintenance release supports 1TB and larger drives.

3. Has Pace certified any eSATA drives?

Yes, the following drives have been tested and verified to function properly:
Western Digital MyDVR Expander (WDG1S5000)
Seagate DVR Expander (ST30500SCA109-RK)
iOmega DVR (34172)
