SipSizzurpFo' ShizzlePremium join:2005-12-28 Houston, TX kudos:4 | [Excel] Excel 2010 is Freaked In Excel 2010 I would like a cell to have the equal sign, that looks like this =
When I put an = in the cell it looks fine until I move to the next cell. Then Excel changes my = to =g27. If I correct it back to = it again changes it to =g27. Then entire column is formatted as "Text Only". Various other cell formatting options result in the same or other errored displays. I cannot make the = sign stay as typed. !#@$! -- Breaker One Nine. |

Edit - I just started again with a blank file with same results. Can anybody with Excel 2010 verify that they can make an equal sign stay just an equal sign after leaving that cell ? -- Breaker One Nine. |

| reply to SipSizzurp I can put = in a cell I want to, hit enter which moves the cursor down in that cell stays exactly like it was with just the =. I tried it formatting the cell as text and without formatting it and had the same results. Your problem is because you're not hitting enter so excel thinks you're starting a formula. When you hit enter it closes out the function. |

Thank you very much !! |

 | reply to SipSizzurp or try this, put the single quote in front of whatever you want to keep as text, in your example like this
'=
then you can navigate away or hit enter should leave you with just the = sign. |
