Re: 24 Mbps package

In case anyone else on here tries to order a 24 Mbps package in the future, I just wanted to put this information out there. As of right now, there seems to be mass confusion in the Orders/Business Office (and sadly apparently the Tech Support group as well) about what modems are compatible with the service. I called back today to double check that the 1704 will work. In the Orders dept, the girl was not sure. She put me on hold to call Tech Supt. Got back to me and said Tech Supt confirmed that the 1704 will work with a 24 Mbps package.

Afterwards, I confirmed with Aaron on this board that a Comtrend 5600 (bonded ADSL2+) or 5374 (VDSL2) modem is required for the 24 Mbps. He firmly believes that the Service Tech that shows up at my house tomorrow should have one of these models with him to complete my setup.

Will post further updates tomorrow.

I need to check on this package again. I received an advertisement in my mail box around Jan that it was coming soon, but called and they said it was sent out too early. I asked a few weeks ago on Twitter, and was told 12 Mbps was still the fastest they offered in my area.

Anyway I have a fiber install, and use my own router (no Windstream modem)... So I assume all they would need to do is setup the 24 Mbps speed, like they did when I moved to 12 Mbps?

I will get the confusion resolved with what type of modem gets used for 24m service. It may take awhile to trickle down through the ranks but I have the ball rolling now. Thank you for bringing it to my attention Blue.

I have sent an email with the specifics of the various modems to the Business Office. Hopefully they will implement the information shortly.
