Landscape Design Software (non-professional) suggestions

Looking for some feedback from folks that have some personal experience with non-professional landscape design software. I searched through this forum and found a few hits for kitchen design but didn’t see much for landscape design. Google turned up lots of hits but wanted to get some feedback from those with personal experience.

Situation is that my retired, senior father, who has always had a green thumb and loves landscaping, has been put on the landscape improvement committee for his neighborhood HOA. Looking for something cheap ($100 or less) or better yet free that a very basic computer user could figure out (or I could help). He’s 73 so ease of use would be a consideration as well.

As mentioned, Google turned up some hits and listed some sites with “comparisons” but any of you have any suggestions from experience that would be great.
Thanks!

I have used this a few times:

The output is a little cheesy looking compared to the true 3D modeling apps, but the learning curve is much better.

Actually, that's not too bad.

The objective is to do quick changes so you can try things, and this certainly fits the bill.

Great. Thanks, I will take a look at the link tonight. They do not seem to have a trial option but I will check out their videos.

Thanks!

Their more expensive "Real Time Land Scape Architect" includes the Photo app, and it has a trial. No idea what the limitations are, but you could at least get your hands on it.
