Re: Hotmail replaced by Outlook.com in Microsoft shake-up

Anyone know the pop settings to access the new outlook.com from a regular desktop client and/or phone.

Some reviews I've read state that you can use it on smart phone via the exchange setup and you'll get push notifications.

Tried using the help info from the new site and can't find any settings listed on how to set this up either from a phone OR a desktop client.

I set mine up using the hotmail server settings which appear to work with the exception that it refuses to connect to SMTP download via POP more than once every 15 minutes.

Edit: Correction.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Wonder if I can try substituting "outlook" for "live" in the pop3 and smtp settings. Worth a shot!

Thanks

It was the SMTP that allows only one connection every 15 minutes, not POP. Corrected above.

The question is, why is it necessary to use the "connector" to setup desktop outlook and outlook.com???

edit: It's not required. See here - »www.msoutlook.info/question/332

jmorlan,
I tried those settings and it seems to work on and off sporadically....maybe the 15 minute thing you are talking about.

Also, it pulls in the same message multiple time if it is still on the server. I do have "leave messages on the server" checked, but it still should not be pulling the same one in multiple times. Anyone else set their's up successfully using POP and got it to work properly? Specifically the new Outlook.com

I have 'outlook.com' set up in Mozilla Thunderbird. I always change the POP poll time to thirty minutes. If I need more frequent checks, I use an IM service to reach my contact.

Not seeing multiple downloads in Mozilla Thunderbird.
