Re: frontier will be using a mix of bonded adsl2+ and vdsl2 tech said by nfgbrian:Well after 6 days past my original appointment they were finally able to come out and install it. They were trained on it last week so I am pretty understanding as to why it took so long to get it to me. The tech told me that the customer service reps were wrong and they don't offer the "Ultimate" package out here yet (VDSL 25/3) and they installed bonded ADSL2+ (12/2). They ran a new line for the bonded service and so far I am not impressed.
My speeds are all over the place anywhere from 11 down to 2 down. Up is consistent at 1.5mbps. Tech said they had to do something to shorten my line (or terminate something on the line, I have no idea), but I'm pretty disappointed considering I was getting 5.78mbps down consistently with no drops before I got the upgrade. Customer service is going to have engineering take a look at the equipment to see what speeds I can actually get, but if they do offer VDSL I'm assuming I'll need a new modem yet again. They gave me a Zyxel P-663HN-51 for this installation.

| I'm not sure how accurate the new site is, it also states that all of the plans are available to me. The last time I checked with Frontier on the phone 12/2 was the fastest in the area.
With the current congestion that seems to be affecting my area I doubt they would be selling higher speeds. I am getting around 2Mb out of the 12Mb plan during prime time now. |

 | can u do a speed test and post it and modem stats these guys can probley help u and i can help u 2 if u post all that |
|
 | reply to Action2 well think of this if u in city limits you can get 25mbps but if u live out of city limits or to far away from the co u can get the 6 and 12 plans |

| I live two blocks from the CO, so it would not be a question of distance. I will give it a few days and see if they update their site over the weekend.
The area is all setup with new equipment but I don't think there is much bandwidth feeding the CO yet. It seems they have oversold a lot in the last couple of months. |

| reply to jpgr I just received confirmation today from my friends over at the CO. My area (Sanborn, NY) recently had the CO and the RTs all upgraded with brand spanking new ADSL2+ and VDSL2 tech. They haven't announced anything officially yet, and speeds are still 3Mbps/384kbps for residential, 6M/600k for business but higher speeds are on the way! |

| Interestingly enough, I put in a relatives address in [exGTE / Verizon] WI... and it says they can also get up to 25 Meg DSL.. |

1 edit | reply to jpgr I get the same screen. Yet I just talked to our GM for the area and he said my area wasn't getting any speed increases this year.
I just sent him another email asking for clarification. It would be great if it was true. |

 | Currently the website shows all plans regardless if they are actually available in your area.
I confirmed that the 25Mbps plan was not available in my area with the local techs. |
|
 | i think the website is 95 percent right so you might end up get 25mbps plan after 4 or 5 months of boned plans being installed |
|
 | reply to AMDUSER website is right because my area show 25mbps for 69.99 and on amduser show 59.99 for his area |

| The pricing difference doesn't mean the site is accurate. My area is on the more expensive pricing and it does indeed show that on the plan page. Regardless that service is not available.
From what I have gathered there isn't any known timetable for any future upgrades as well. |

 | i can not wait untill i can try out the 6m/769k plan gne be way better than 1m and 3m gone be alot better on xbox live while 2 xbox is on |

RacerbobPremium join:2001-06-24 Webster, NY | reply to Action2 I spoke with Frontier sales rep tonight and he confirmed the pricing for my area. (I am in the Rochester, NY service area) All speed plans are available to me and the pricing is $39.95/ $49.95 and $59.95. $49.99 install fee and a one year or two year contract required with a 30 day trial period. -- Obama = Epic Fail |

I would like to try Frontier again, but I already know the product I have right now and Earthlink's speeds will be the same as Time Warner minus the Powerboost gimmick. At least now that Frontier has boosted speeds here I can possibly use them as a negotiating tool with Time Warner. I have to think about this for a bit... -- Obama = Epic Fail |
