In your, and your ignorant supporter's views, we should all give up on ford, chevy, and dodge and just let them all make the same car and truck becuase, again, choice and differences are a bad thing.

I thought having no choice was an Apple feature.

You have a choice not to use Apple.

It's pretty annoying to see people say Apple gives you "no choice."

Then don't use Apple, CHOOSE something else.

Alright then, let's say Apple does give me a choice in hardware. Where's my choice of an iPhone with a slider keyboard?

You don't get one, Apple doesn't want you to have one. They KNOW what YOU want. They have said it themselves.

is simple revenue vs cost so you see is not choice. Sometimes your guys are so diluted is not even funny. Also why would i have a querty keyboard that only one section of the world can use instead of a touch one that can use any language. Look also sliding keyboard can get damage since any that moves then to fail.

Right....we are diluted, not even sure what you mean by that anyway.

dilutedpast participle, past tense of di·lute (Verb)
Verb:

Make (a liquid) thinner or weaker by adding water or another solvent to it.
Make (something) weaker in force, content, or value by modifying it or adding other elements to it.

Ever seen the interview that Bruce Lee gave to a tv station where he says we should be more like water. Flow like it ,move like it and become the container that hold water. Well there you go an explanation of that.

heres the video:

Then quit telling me Apple is offering its customers a choice in hardware - it doesn't.

Why would I want an on screen keyboard to block my view, or translate my touches incorrectly? And I could give less of a crap about how the rest of the world uses it - I'm the only user I'm concerned about in the use of my hardware.

And as for costs, well somehow Samsung can manage to make a sliding keyboard smartphone. Ask them how they made a profit off of it.

@Thaler
Theres choice: You buy or don't buy simple as that Also most android fans tend to think Android is the only choice so don't tell me about choice. When it comes to choice in the Android world is either: LG or Samsungs high end phones. Low cost ones SUCK @SS! no upgrades, bog down and horrible battery life. Also LTE fries your radio when we reach the hottest months. High end LTE phones suck your battery dry.

Block your views? are you sure you have hands and not paws(no pun intended to your avatar lol)? I mean seriously I have an old 3GS and I can palm an NBA regulation size basketball with one hand, even hold it for a long time. Yet I can type on it with both hands. Also incorrect translation you know the Iphone has an autocorrect feature just like android? If you are the only one concern theres also keyboard cases please stop stressing out and look for a solution I call that "lack of common sense. Incase you need the info here you gohttp://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=bluetooth+keyboard+iphone+4&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=11431143107&hvpos=1t3&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5401857761683699185&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&ref=pd_sl_1kao6aqt17_e

oh and even physical keyboard do easily break hence why i say sliding keyboards are going the way of the blackberry

Motorola... HTC...they all make high end phones. They all make low end phones too.

Yet both are losing money in their field. Only those two I mention are doing well. Moto is having issues and HTC is leaving several countries one after another. Last few days ago they left South Korea.

I need a physical keyboard for the content/amount I type up on my phone. Again, where's my choice in hardware in an iOS flavor? I simply don't have one.

Wow...I don't think you've even picked up an Android handset to compare within the last few years. I'm currently using a Samsung Transform Ultra - low-mid range prepaid smartphone and it flies. Interface is smooth, battery life is great, and I've never had it "bog down" running multiple apps.

As for the LTE radio, at least that's a choice current Android consumers have. If they value data transfer rates above all, they are SOL in the iOS camp until Apple comes forth with their latest-&-greatest out-of-date revision to the phone.

You've never used a webpage with crap-for mobile formatting? It's a real boon when you *have* to use them and the on-screen keyboard makes use/navigation on those pages impossible.

I'd rather not have to remember another digital gadget to get my smartphone to do what I want it to do. It's just another thing to lose/power/etc. that I don't want.

I "baby" my phone as far as I don't drop the sucker...other than that, I don't do it many favors. I have yet to have a physical keyboard be the reason behind a phone failure. Again, maybe your experience with these types of phones is dated?

Now, why these keyboards are disappearing is simply because everyone wants to clone the iPhone form factor. Small, sleek is the new hotness, and so features like a physical keyboard prevent a manufacturer from making a phone razor thin. My current phone is 0.61" thick - "fat" by today's standards, but is worth the added size to get a feature I need.

Not really. Is Android phone makers killing each others sale. You have high end and low end from Samsung Killing Huwaii or anybody else or HTC losing money and having to withdraw since the competition is so fear among then. Apple is only taking 45% or so the rest have to divided by everybody else. so if you only make 5% and you have a great phone you are really not making any money in the long run.So you just leave the market and try another OS hence why HTC wants to jump into the Windows phone because there they can at least make some money.

Bzzt wrong. Samsung alone is selling more Android phones right now than Apple is selling their iOS devices. Those two companies alone are close to 60% of current sales. Outside of those two, the rest - including Nokia and RIM - make up the other 40%.

So, the correct answer is that Samsung and Samsung alone is killing everyone right now, including Apple.

Again maybe you need a physical keyboard. I don't oh and the greatest Android phone lacks a keyboard the SG3 . So only Apple doing this? i guess not.

wow you surely like to make bad guesses. Again the greatest Android phone now is the SG3 had its not my cup of tea.too big and can't crack in my line of work.Yet i been using one when i have to sit in the office because of weather changes that stops my crew from working. Also nobody is saying LTE is the greatest since we know that not every company can give you the advertise speed. Until we can get something close to DSL without a hitch then I don't care. Also you can be the first to bring your chip and yet can suck. So to me LTE is a nice feature but not a game changer yet.

Nope i try to stay away from that crap and just use either safari, or any other Web browser that can handle that. Even Dolphin was able to do this without the clutter.

Also the keyboard sips your battery when in use. you can turn it on and off so no battery killing.

Nope thats what usually happens to moving parts they all can fail at any given time. You know that very well if you ever use a pc. Fine if you do like your keyboard but for me i prefer on screen since you can change the input method. While physical keyboards can't.

Greatest is relative. My current low end Samsung phone does everything I need a smartphone to do, has a physical keyboard, and has no contract. The thing you seem to be missing is that the Android platform itself offers choices. I get a multitude of builds and features to pick from, rather than a one-size-fits-most.

And that's a useless feature for me. Others may use it, but I'm not buying their phone.

I picked up an SGS3 the other day to replace a Captivate that I've had for a while now. While the SGS3 is nicer to look at, has a higher-res screen, faster CPU and is unquestionably a better and more functional phone, my Captivate *still* handles my day-to-day tasks just fine, just slower. I've since handed the Captivate off to my wife, and now that she's using it she doesn't seem so gung-ho about buying a new phone like she was two weeks ago.

I haven't even bothered to load ICS onto the Captivate, but from the looks of things it should handle that quite well.

LTE is also a non-issue. We don't have it here, and my sales rep says we probably won't get it for at least a year, though they'll have it up in the Falls and St. Cats by the end of the year.

29.1 VS 24.2 Is not that much of a difference also remember this mr stats. Take that in account that Samsung has to pay royalties to Windows so you can reduce that 4.9 more or less out.

Well according to all reviewers the SG3 is the best Android phone there is. Hey i have and iphone with no contract so no issues there .

Again you call it useless and i tell you physical keyboard are use less for the rest of the world that includes me. So we will never agree on that point.
