Ah, the good ole days of BBS. Those days you actually had to put in an effort to get some stuff. |

Ah yes, the BBSes. Was still living at my parents at the time and all I can remember is my parents screaming bloody murder every time they'd pick up the phone and all they could hear was a modem. Meanwhile I would scream as well because I'd have lost my precious download. |

A lifesaver at 2400 baud lol. But I eventually did get another line of my own. Then later when the internet came around I used the two lines at night in dialup MLPPP. |

Real age is 300 baud or 1200 baud. You could read text as it scrolled by in real time. And the on-chip buffer was an 8250. |

8250 is way too advance. Started with IM6402 that needs external baud rate generator and external GPIO for modem handshake line here. |

Oh I started at 300 baud too. It just exciting when cool technologies like Compression came out! |

I think about 1991 i had my own computer and a 2400 baud GVC modem, thats when i got into it more. I also swapped the modem over to my Amiga which I also had at the time. |

My first XT had a1200 baud modem in 1988. Then I went to a 2400 baud and eventually to a USR 14,400 Sportster and a 16550 UART Chip. I still have my USR 56K Courier I paid $25 for... |
