I'm still confused on what you're reporting. You have stated a couple of times that your computer shows 15/1 on speedtests but your PS3 does not. If this is true, then the problem has to be within your own network or the PS3 itself.

I ran a couple 1million count pings from a couple of public route servers and saw normal latency and 0 packet-loss to the IP you listed in the trace above.

Do you experience this lag at all times or just during certain times of the day?

Believe me I am confused also.
My connection to the internet from my house to Suddenlink is good almost all the time with a slightly higher than desired ping time average of 70 to 75 MS which is a Grade of B on pingtest.net. This is not desirable for online game playing.

Going outside of Suddenlink network is where I have the problem. Such as Sony, Netflix, Apple TV.

No problem is not constant it varies day to day.

Post your signal stats off the doc3 modem again please. Also post up a tracert to www.google.com

The tracert that you have listed above shows no signs of slowing down or bottlenecking.

Also a ping of 70ms is perfectly fine in game. Source: I game every single day between 60ms and 100ms.

Have you taken your ps3 to another connection yet and run the same speedtests and problematic games to verify it is NOT your ps3?

No I haven't tried another location yet with the PS3. I have been working a lot and trying to deal with the heat here in Oklahoma. I keep thinking its not the PS3 simply because I am having trouble with Netflix and Apple TV and transferring files.

Before the new modem I was running in mostly the 70ms range and would occasionally 50 or 100ms. It ran better in the 70ms. 50 and 100ms seemed to lag very bad so I would target the 70ms. Since the new modem games are mostly coming up in the 100 to 125ms and once in a while I might get in on a 70ms game.

every last one of those tests are running perfect. Your speedtest is right where it should be. The tracert to google shows no slow down points at all. Same with the ping of google. Your modem stats are also perfectly fine.

Also pinging the same IP addresses you were saying were troublesome earlier in the thread show no signs of slow down from me to them.

I really don't know what to say for the PS3 other than the connection looks fine from your computer. What device are you running the Netflix on?

Sorry I forgot to reply.
Go figure on the stats. I am at a loss. Right now the PS3 is pulling 6.5 Mbps dl and 889.0 Mbps ul. I am going to try it and see what it does. Figure this out - Sometimes when the Dnload gets this low or lower I can change the DNS on the Router to the free DNS 4.2.2.2 and the PS3 runs 11 to 13 Mbps DnLoad. But not today. It is running 6.2 Mbps DL and 882.5 UL under DNS 4.2.2.2. I just changed to DNS 8.8.4.4 google-public-dns-b.google.com and getting some pretty good responses in the game so far. Shots kill faster and movement is faster. SO FAR! This DNS Showed to be 36% faster than the 4.2.2.2

Netflix is on the Apple TV most of the time. It can login to the Netflix servers even if the Apple Network is down. Sometimes I watch it on the computer.

Do you think this is a possibility from the statement below. It came from »n2.netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu.

DNS servers might have been your problem practically even though 4.2.2.2 is level3's

I actually set up my router on suddenlink and linked it to comodo's mainly cause suddenlink's redirect got annoying after I told it 100x times to turn off.. doing it at the router/modem level means all devices under your network use the dns

anyways not sure why level 3's might have been messing up but it can happen

the dns server should not effect the bandwidth at all. Dns is more of a lookup tool that points what you typed into the bar to an ip address somewhere on the internet. Without dns you'd have to type in an ip for every site you want to go to.

Once you have made a connection to the server (website) that you are going to, you are no longer using the dns servers.

If you are not uploading anything then the uplink buffer wouldn't have any meaningful effects on your gaming, and especially not on streaming a Netflix movie which involves little to no upstream traffic.

Out of curiosity, are these test results that you are posting taken while your connection is working fine, or when you are experiencing trouble?

PS3's speedtest is horrendous. Do not trust those results. I get 60/40 on speedtest.net from my PC, and on my PS3 , wired or wireless, I get ~5-10 down and 5 up. Something is obviously not right with the PS3.

I don't trust it either. I mostly check it when I am having problems to try to get a reference to see what it is doing! Did pretty decent tonight though.
