Not marketing it right to Lower Income areas...
QUOTE>>> lower income neighborhoods are lagging while more affluent neighborhoods get busy signing up their own door to door salesmen:
Well as this may hold true most lower income areas are more cautious to invest in something unless they know theres a good return in it for them. IF door to door salesman went around and marketed to those lower income on Time warner or ATT DSL areas, as look this is how it brakes down... " pay $10 now and register in your area when it comes live All I want you to do is purchase the equipment and you will have free service for several yrs!" If the $300 up front cost seems like too much for 5 mbps them lets set them up on a lay-away plan. Also to sweeten the pot inform them that they can receive FREE nationwide home phone service! How? Google voice and an OBI100.
Just ask the future customer how much do you spend a month on the lowest cost DSL 1.5-3 mbps and basic local phone service from ATT? $15 dsl & $20 phone (inc taxes). So thats $35 per mth. At that rate it cost you $420 a yr. Now just multiply that by 7. Googles not so bad @ the upfront cost of $300. The trick to selling this to lower income individuals/households is all in the marketing. The more affluent neighborhoods that are usually more technically driven all ready know this by doing there own due diligence.
