I ended up not tack wielding just because it was getting late and a storm was coming near but as you can see It's easy to get to again..

btw the bolt I ordered was too short like 30 mm too short.. Lucky for me I ordered the nut because friken home depot here in portchester, NY sucks.. the bolt tray is always mixed up and they never have the size you need..

IIRC, hardened steel becomes annealed when heated and must re-hardened and tempered again. But if you are only tack welding, you should be OK as long as you don't heat the whole nut above the critical temperature of 1335°F (cherry red).

Also arc welding would be the preferred method as apposed to gas welding.

M12x1.25 is the fine thread for that size and is used where loosening caused by vibration is a concern. Coarse threads are used where strength is the over riding concern.

A grade 8 bolt for a transmission support is more than enough and if you have room, put a lock nut on it.

Then use a bolt with a washer, it is common for assembly line purposes to use less parts that can be misplaced and combining a bolt with a washer is one of those methods of speeding up the assembly process.

Find the bolt you need and combine it with a washer and you have the same thing just two parts to loose versus one. ;-)

Thats' a built in lockwasher you can replace that type of bolt with a standard bolt plus a standard lockwasher.

I think it cross-threaded because me trying to hold one side of the transmission up that was resting on the cross member and trying to make sure the bolt is backed out right so it would not cross tread in.

All I have to do is drive the car up on ramps, cut a flap inside over the bolt & nut, Hold the nut in place with something, grab my air impact wrench and take it out..
