I have a customer who connects VoIP adapter, router, and cable modem to a switch, so the VoIP and the router are using different internet IPs--they had firewall problems with the VoIP.
Using ipconfig /release doesn't seem to be too effective, but if you leave the cable modem unplugged for 5 minutes, it will reset the MAC address cache and you can connect new devices. -- electronicsguru.ca/for_sale/Cablemodems |
