[Speed] Got 39.80mbps on Performance

So I did a speed test on speedtest.net and got 39.80mbps in download speed, could it be because maybe the neighbors aren't using that much bandwidth?

Oh the speed test was done while playing a game on Xbox Live.

Powerboost. Gotta be. With announced speed boosts to Blast and Extreme 50, it'd be highly doubtful they'd make Performance run at 40 megs. At most, right now, I could see Performance at 25 megs. What speeds do sustained downloads give you?

Post Shaperprobe results as that does not include powerboost.

FWIW, yes it does if you know how to read the results. It has the ability to show both the sustained speeds and the Powerboost speeds. That the beauty of this tool !

Looks like a momentary spike in Powerboost or a glitch in the speed test. So far nothing has been said about upgrades to Performance.

Look like 16/2 with PB to 25/4--quite normal for "new" performance.

While it's not set in stone, 2 of the press releases I read on the new speed implied that performance would stay there (lots of places still waiting to reach/stabilize at that level) and the middle and upper tiers would each increase.
It makes sense to have more widely spread packages, as the more clearly defines the value of each, and the reason for the prices.

BTW occasional, "eXtra ordinary" speed test results have happened to everyone, due to the tests design/timing errors/acts of god human and even COMPUTER errors

If you can record the same extreme speed on multiple run of multiple tests then you might be on to something.

Comcast employs what is known as a “Token bucket system”. “Tokens” (representing data) flow into a “Bucket” at a constant rate and the bucket “fills up”. When you first begin a download, you start by downloading data from your “bucket”. There is no artificial limitation on the speed at which you can download (burst) from your “bucket” and it is common to see speeds in excess of 60Mbps. Once your bucket is depleted however, your download slows and continues only at the speed at which data is flowing into your “bucket”.
