I really believe that most of the DSL problems I see here are really voice problems.....
I had DSL service from the February, 2001, when our phone company was billing as, "Pacific Bell", through "SBC", and their acquisition of (and re-branding as) "AT&T" until April, 2011 (when I fired them because of their caps). Never had a DSL problem which wasn't accompanied by voice problems; and always DSL service returned to normal when the voice problem was fixed.
Well, except for:
• Failed to filter all POTS equipment on initial install (DiY troubleshoot and fix).
• "Exhausted Router" (SBC Direct fixed this one).
But we did have four instances of voice trouble disrupting DSL service. So, say, 66% voice trouble caused DSL disruption.--
