Re: [DSL] Problems with a forum/ IP address

Intelp4, I can change my MAC address in network settings no? Presently it's value is set to "not present". Not sure if this helps?

"not present" means to obtain the hardware MAC address from your network card. Usually you cannot change the hardware address permanently, but the operating system allows you to spoof it. You will just have to enter a new valid value (google for examples) in the MAC/Hardware address field.

Do you think that this will do the trick? What I don't understand is that I tried using my iphone on 3g cellular, with java disabled and was also banned. This leads me to believe that they ban me because they see Bell Mobility Toronto as my ISP and automatically link it to me, much like when they see Teksavvy Toronto when I use my PC.

So, if I spoof my MAC address, and use a proxy, new email account, new forum account, my pc name, etc. I may be good?

ya know, I think you're actually violating the AUP for Teksavvy by going at this other website so much. It wouldn't take many emails from their admins to the abuse team to get you in some hot water.

thanks rjbrake, i've actually already given up and stopped. I think the only way for me to use that forum is to buy a new computer, modem, and/or ISP?

What kind of hot water? lol

We never did find out what the forum was, did we? Or maybe I've just not read the whole thread correctly....

I'd prefer not to say which forum it is. They also ban my using my bell mobility 3g on the iphone, so i'm assuming they automatically link teksavvy and bell mobility to me when they see Toronto, and ban me.
