dcx3400 channel lineup wrong, time hour off

Sorry if wrong section but I am new here.

Here's the situation:
-I had my apt when I was in college, I couldn't afford a dvr through comcast but I did buy one directly from the cable guy so I could keep it, when I moved back home. (motorola dcx3400)

-Worked great in college, channels and time correctly labeled

-moved back home, all the info loads up perfect for each channel but it is the lineup list for the channels by my school not at my house.
(FX is 33 at college and 47 at home...my dcx3400 is still registering 33(FX) at my house)

-Can I fix this without getting a tech involved?
-Is there an option to do a hard reset?
-Is there an option to change the zip-code on the box?

All input is greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

forgot to mention the main problem....
I have no picture or sound!

Just the info at the bottom and a black screen stating:
One Moment Please
This channel should be available shortly.

No, you cannot fix it without a tech
Yes, you can do a hard reset. Won't help.
No, can't change the zip code.

What you got is a box from another system. It's not going to work where you are.

in before "cant own a DCT, stolen property, etc"

Thank you.

I did not want to call comcast and have a tech come out and this unit come back stolen.

Im sure one of my college buddies will want it.

...back to scheduling my life around the tv guide.

the DCX is a HD box and you should not use the XX numbers HD is in the XXX or 1XXX range.

It doesn't matter what channel numbers he uses, the box isn't authorized properly so it's not getting the correct channel map.

you should return the box to comcast and tell them a tech sold it to you.
They should let their techs know they can't sell boxes to customers.

next time buy a tivo and get a cable card from Comcast when you go back home return the cablecard and get a another one when you get home you'll need to do this when you go to college to or you can see if the'll let you get two leave one at home and the other one at college.

If the OP can't afford a CC DVR, why would you think he could afford a (MORE) expensive Tivo; you DO realize there is ALSO a monthly fee to make the Tivo work as well???
