Re: [OOL] Possible Standard Tier Downstream Speed Change?

said by MxxCon:

15/2 is perfectly sufficient for most households.

I wish I would get the 2 Mbps upload, instead of 10% less. I used to get 2 up, but Cablevision changed something to slow us down.

Seems like they're lowering the hard speed caps...atleast on the standard tier slowly one system at a time.

Cablevision lowers speeds: I'm seeing a 13% decrease on download speed, 10% decrease on upload speed.

21/2 now that nobody else in my house is using the connection.

Not bad for a 15/2 service.

Mentioning your decrease in up load speed several times in this thread will not resolve your issue. Call cv and tell them.

Right. But what happened when you called customer service? What did the tech say when he came out to look? Cablevison hasn't done anything to limit you and only you.

Other people have also seen the upload decrease to 1.8 Mbps. Mine dropped the very same day we went to 4 channels.

No one has seen an upload cap decrease. Some have seen upload speed decreases, like you, but no one has seen the cap decrease.

I think you're jumping the gun:

Mom's line over vpn:

She has an Arris with 8 downstream channels...

Unless Cablevision is taking it's sweet time, it makes no sense how certain systems in CV's service area got capped at 19.5 Mbps while others still have the 22.5 Mbps downstream cap.

If they have lowered the cap for anyone, I would have thought they would start where I am - the competition is 7mbps DSL.

Maybe they have different equipment installed in different areas and it does not support the same rate caps or something else related to Layer2 of OSI.

Well my post from 2 months ago above indicating that the whole CMTS was affected even though we had 22.5 Mbps before doesn't add up. New equipment not being able to handle a 3 Mbps difference yet it does the same as everyone else with Boost Plus and Ultra?

Cmon now there's gotta be another reason.

not a downstream change, but ive noticed that my ping has reduced by half the past two days.

used to get 10 to 12 ping for years and now its 5ms.

Do you feel that you're not getting the service you are paying for, or is this more of an intellectual pursuit?

I guess it's just perplexing and disappointing that it's certain systems got lower standard tier downstream caps while others stayed the same.

Since it's still technically 15/2 I still can't complain about not getting what I pay for.
