| Now you can pay with a smartphone... quote: SMARTPHONES will replace wallets in a new world-first trial starting in Australia today.
The three-month pilot program by Westpac and MasterCard will see debit card information securely programmed into a phone's SIM card, letting users pay for goods by tapping a mobile phone at the cash register.

I thought I'd lost mine last week while hiking. I wasn't too worried as its a $10 dumb pre-paid one. All the contact info is backed up to 3 PC's so the only hassle would've been buying a new one (same model). It has no critical info on it at all.
Some keep their whole lives on their phone and therefore freak out when they misplace/lose it. -- Don't feed trolls--it only makes them grow! |

If you concern about it, then become your own email provider. It's easy and it brings many other advantages as well... -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |

Nor do I have the $$$ to set up a personal exchange server that a typical smartphone uses to store address books. -- --Standard disclaimers apply.-- The preceding posting is null and void in Arizona and any other jurisdiction where prohibited by law. |

Probably because our providers couldn't figure out how to get a cut of each transaction. Most likely those countries are BYOD and not seriously provider locked down like the phones over here.

And considering I could hop ISP's and cell companies like I change underwear you're right. Though apple did try their hardest to change that(network locking), and the market rebelled hard. |
