Fight SticksA couple of friends of mine are playing Mortal Kombat 9 on the PS3 so I picked it up for cheap from ebay. My dualshock has been with me since launch and has a dog chewed left stick, which lately has tended to rest in a slightly 'up' position. In most games it's not much of a problem but needless to say with MK the direction you're pushing affects your moves. Long story short I went out yesterday in search of a fight stick. I ended up with this one (which I got for $54.00 from a local shop brand new):
» www.amazon.com/PS3-Fight ··· =hori+v3After playing with it several hours I must say it works very well. I really wanted the MK Tournament edition stick
but I'm having trouble finding just the stick for the PS3 at a decent price ($100 or less). I would have bought the tournament edition off the bat but didn't know I would enjoy Mortal Kombat as much as I do.
TL:DR - Do any of you play with a fightstick? If so, which one? If anyone wants to feel Scorpion's noobie wrath in Mortal Kombat my psn is bionicRod, feel free to add me.

My only gripe with the MK one is the fact that it's basically useless for any other game that would warrant an arcade stick of this sort. X-Arcade seems to be the gold standard, given its upgradeable plugins and just solid build factor. But you'll want to do your homework, and make sure you get a compatible set of adapters, since Sony (in)famously blocked the original set with the 3.50 firmware update. I think they had to make a new adapter to work in its place so that it'd show up and be usable again. |

I agree with Zero about the MK one pigeon-holing you. You are better off with the controller you purchased. I mean, the next Tekken game is out either next month or the month after, so you will need it. |

Yeah I saw that about the button layout on the MK stick but it is fairly hard to find on PS3 which for some reason made me want it more. They're out there, but there are far fewer than their 360 counterparts and therefore they are more expensive. I kind of wanted it more for the collectible sake than anything else.
I used to buy all the Tekken games but have been out of the loop on fighters since I bought a house with my better half and no longer have a houseful of dudes sitting on a couch to play against. I'm looking forward to Injustice: Gods Among Us next year, and may have to grab some of the Marvel v Capcom and SF iterations I've missed in the meantime. |

Yeah, I agree with what's said here. I have Mortal Kombat and I'm also a big Street Fighter player as well, and the MK specific arcade stick really limits you to only MK, you can't really use it for any other fighting games. The one you got is a good multi-purpose layout. One thing though, I would've suggested that you gotten an 8-button layout, had you posted in here first before buying. It would've given you much more versatility. My PSN ID is cbltphoenix. Add me and we can play sometime. |

Will do next time I log in. You will destroy me. I'm still trying to chain combos together, not very successfully I might add. |
