God I hate ESPN with a passion. It's like a Sports-TMZ. |

He is the CFL head coach whose name has been floating around. Didn't think he was on the Bears list. I don't know much about him myself, other than him winning some CFL bowls or whatever they're called. This a good hire guys? |
|
JonPremium join:2001-01-20 Lisle, IL | I don't really know anything about the CFL but I assume winning a few championships there is a pretty good accomplishment. Guess we'll see if it's true or not soon. His tweet is all over the news and sports sites now so I'm guessing Emery will need to respond one way or another at some point. |

The guy has a very nice resume. From reading around Reddit, almost everyone has stated this guy is a very offensive mind. I've also read around that the CFL is a pass-heavy league. Take that for what it's worth. I, however, feel that he would be a great fit in Chicago. I feel the same way about Dennison from Houston. |

sleuthPremium join:2001-08-30 West Des Moines, IA | reply to Jon While the O may improve, what about the D? I'm sure he doesn't share the same philosophy as Lovie. Lovie was able to keep our aging D among the best in the league every year. Maybe we should bring him back as our D coordinator |

JonPremium join:2001-01-20 Lisle, IL | Maybe he'll keep Marinelli and just let him run the D. Or maybe they'll just change the whole defense. Guess we'll see. |

 | reply to Jon Trestman is known for being a quarterback specialist running the west-coast offense. Trestman also called the plays himself. I would say the quarterbacks on the roster better be prepared to hit the books. Literally. In Monteal, protection for the quarterback was top priority so the running back had to be a good blocker. Of course that was with an aging Anthony Calvillo.
Anyway, he is not a defensive specialist. I am going to say that he will leave that side of the ball to whomever he hires at the defensive coordinator. Plus, Trestman will not meddle in personnel matters with the GM. |

sleuthPremium join:2001-08-30 West Des Moines, IA | reply to Jon AHHH stupid media is linking Trestman and Tebow. Just stupid media talk but I swear, if some divine intervention happens and the Bears obtain Tebow I'm burning all my fan gear. |
|
JonPremium join:2001-01-20 Lisle, IL | I don't think I've heard anyone say that they thought Tebow was a good quarterback in the last year. There are some pretty shitty QBs out there though so he may be better than a couple of them. I certainly don't think he's better than anyone we have right now. |

| reply to sleuth I think their focus will be on more scoring and decent D rather than dominating D. As the NFL is gearing toward more offense with rule changes, etc. teams seem to be more offensive minded. IDK what will become of our D. I def. do not want to see the Tampa 2 anymore. Garrett Wolfe had an interview on the Score yesterday morning and played under Trestman. He said he was a "players coach" like the last dipshit but he said Trestman gets involved on both sides of the ball. This guy better have the mental attitude and be prepared for the frusrated and sick of losing Bear fans. |

JonPremium join:2001-01-20 Lisle, IL | He hired Mel Tucker from Jacksonville as the DC? He obviously didn't see any Jacksonville games this year. Hopefully it was more a talent issue than a shitty coach issue. |

| Tucker is highly respected - J-ville is just a bad team. Tucker is experienced with both the 4 - 3 and the 3 - 4. He knows the Tampa 2 and other defensive sets well. And the Bears retained both their secondary coaches. My hope is that an over-the-hill Urlacher will be gone. Time to start over in front of the 4 D-backs.
Urlacher was great as a player, but I never much liked the guy. As a player he was under-sized for his spot and wasn't a great tackler. And his attitude was at best annoying, at worst just stupid. -- Illegitimati non carborundum
