| Java and adobe products I have a few wsus servers but when you see things like this in a anti-virus scan report you know its still work to be done
File "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\40\44dde168-30dd1b4c" belongs to virus/spyware 'Mal/JavaGen-J'.
Virus/spyware 'Mal/JavaGen-J' has been removed.
What do you guys using patch all those third party apps that won't go away adobe reader, pro etc and java?

kudos:1 | Should be ripping out auto-updates (if user won't run / lacks admin) and deploying updates via GP / SCCM / whatever. |

us | No SCCM here but i've been able to deploy the flash updates without major issues but everything else is becoming an issue.

I used to use SCCM to patch up WU, and Java.
The java portion doesn't always work. Oracle seems to be changing things depending on which version they release.
Flash update using SCCM is not that pretty either, even using their msi distribution. Many times it would say it's installed in add/remove, but no red flash icon. If this happens, I have to go to the workstation, uninstall it, and install it manually.
Now I just use a text file with a list of computers, and psexec. I haven't had to visit anyone's workstation to update flash/java/reader. |

| I actually found this »localupdatepubl.sourceforge.net/ which is just what i needed. It's free and works like a champ, i was able to patch adobe reader & flash along with java. Once i'm done with my IDF Refresh i'm going to test it out in the lab to see what else i do
