 | [IL] Mediacom Cable Internet and Motorola SB6121 Modem I upgraded the modem I was renting from Mediacom to my own purchased SB6121. I also upgraded my service to the 20mbps download and 2mbps upload speeds. I further upgraded my wireless router to a D-Link DIR 655 router. Now that everything is set up I cannot get my speeds past 2 Mbps down and 2 up. I have tried everything and every individual tech support for each device and nothing is working. The hardware is brand new. I am afraid that my modem and isp are not compatible. Are there any issues in Southern Illinois with Docsis 3 modems and Mediacom Internet??? P.S. I have also tried it hard wired direct to my computer and it doesn't get speeds there also. Mediacom Tech told me I couldn't keep a consistent connection so they are sending out a tech. Any help appreciated. |

You can use the 6121, but unfortunately we do not offer any firmware for it at this time. Can you IM me your account or phone number and I will see why you are having issues? |

Any help appreciated. I have been using the SB6121 in Southern Il for 6 months without issue. Mediacom does not want to support the modem, it does not matter, mine works fine. It bonds 4 channels and gives me trouble free 12mps plus fast speed. |

 | reply to MaddChatter I've had a couple of recent problems (in IA) that suggest that perhaps my now ancient SB5100 is finally ready for retirement (although for the past three days it has been fine again).
The local stores no longer sell the SB6120 and none of the major e-tailers have it in stock now either, they all now sell the SB6121. However, I understand that Mediacom doesn't (yet) officially support the SB6121?
MediacomChad: Given that I've been using this SB5100 for 9 years now, it makes me want to be loyal to Motorola and get the SB6121, assuming this old SB gives it up soon, but should I instead look to get the Cisco DPC3008? The more research I do, the more I find that every model of cable modem has people saying it is the worst thing ever made (and killed their puppy to boot). I also see there is a DPC3010, but also not yet supported by Mediacom? |

Last week I thought I was having modem problems too. I kept getting low receive levels and high upstream levels. Now the past 3 days have been back to normal. |

 | On 8/30 and again on 8/31 I was having a problem where my modem was resetting itself about every 5 to 7 seconds. On 8/30 it happened at 8:25pm and lasted for about 10 minutes and then was fine for the rest of the evening. On 8/31, it happened again at 9am and lasted about 5 minutes. However, on 8/31, after I unplugged my router, to reset it, it wouldn't come back on. I unplugged it several times and I think on the 6th or 7th try it finally came back on... um, that makes me nervous, thus why I need a plan on what to do here if it gives it up in the next few days. |
|
 | Uh... ok, I don't know if someone is messing with me, but I kid you not, 5 minutes after I posted this, my modem just did it again...

 | I did some checking and apparently Comcast doesn't play nice with this modem after a firmware update. Wonder if Mediacom has the same issue. »forums.comcast.com/t5/Connectivi···/1365553
I have a SB6120 and am having frequent disconencts lately and am wondering if it is experiencing the same issue. |
