tanzam75 posted :
<said>said by dynomutt :</said>
The editor's contextual help doesn't seem to match up

That's because the quotes were both distorted and taken out of context.

Here's some more context (emphasis mine) -- and there's a link if you want to read more.

And then the third thing is, that when our customers can go to iTunes or get Mad Men the same time it's on, the economics is we could pay for every customer -- we could pay -- for every customer who would watch Mad Men, we could pay their entire iTunes bill and it would be cheaper than burdening our customers who don't watch those channels with that cost.

... In fact, one of the major programmers sent me a picture of the Godfather, right, from the movie, right, because that's the approach we have with them, right?

... we're in a situation where we could do Mark [Cuban, owner of HDNet] a favor and he did us a favor. And our customers benefit. Our customers -- just read the blogs.

Go read -- our customers are not looking at zombies in New York City. They live in farms and ranches. They have no clue about zombies in New York City marching around saying where is my AMC? I mean, they're watching a Saturday night movie with their husband or their wife or their kids with no commercials, and they're ecstatic, and their price didn't go up.

»seekingalpha.com/article/792031-···anscript

First, notice that the quote was distorted. He never said that his customers know nothing about zombies "and New York." He was trash-talking AMC's publicity stunt in New York, 'cause, like, he's in a dispute with them, remember?

I also find the rest of the quote to be very interesting:

•Was he referring to Disney or AMC when he compared one of the content-owners to the Godfather? He's got a colorful way of speaking, that's for sure.
•He's just about ready to take a bullet for Marc Cuban.
•HDNet has no commercials, whereas AMC has tons of commercials. Therefore, for AMC's ostensible purpose as a movie channel, he's paying less and getting more.
•This still doesn't give him AMC's original shows. But AMC's price demands were so out-of-line with actual viewership that it's cheaper to tell customers to go buy a season pass for their favorite show on iTunes.

anon posted : "I've had satellite television for as long as satellite television has been around and there's never been one minute that I know of anybody in my family, or anybody who's came to my house, has ever watched one second of any of those channels....They (Dish subscribers) live in farms and ranches... They have no clue about zombies and New York."

Reading this, "They (Dish subscribers) live in farms and ranches" doesn't make sense to me. "They (anybody in my family, or anyone who's came to my house) live in farms and ranches" seems more plausible, albeit using the atrocious grammar of the original speaker.
