1 edit | Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS SB0350 No Sound Hello All,
I recently purchased the above mentioned card used from a member here on DSLR, I installed the card into the PCI slot on my motherboard, installed the latest drivers from Creative and I have no sound.
Me being somewhat fairly computer literate I did some research on Google to start troubleshooting.
I have found some user's successful in restoring sound by re-installing XP (not an option lol).
The cards physical appearance is flawless and looks brand new, I do not believe there is any damage to the card.
I am running Windows XP w/ SP3 .
I have a Dell Dimension 2400.
I have onboard everything with this pos.
I disabled the onboard sound through the BiOS once the card produced no sound.
I also uninstalled the onbaord sound's drivers.
I also notice once on the os starts up the start up music will play for like a split second then nothing.
I am going to try an older set of drivers and check windows update.
But I turn to my fellow techies for any further advice.
TIA -- If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's your's. If it doesn't, it never was to begin with. |

| Try... 1. Control Panel 2. Sound 3. Playback and select Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS SB0350 set default.
You could also select the new sound card and then click "Configure" and do a test.
Remember to plug in to the correct jacks. »images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/···8-05.jpg
Also check your connection. Optional maybe use a different speakers or headphone to test it out.
I'm not sure are there any option on the sound card driver you might need to change. |

| reply to MEDIAN2k3 Thanks for the reply, I had considered all those options and of course I came up the same issue, no sound.
I also switched to a different pci slot, same problem
Rebooted several times
Used an older driver
Everything is connected properly
My last resort is a BiOS update however, I have no floppy disk laying around anymore to do a BiOS update.
Any thoughts? -- If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's your's. If it doesn't, it never was to begin with. |

1 edit | If I am right.. this is your computer: »support.dell.com/support/edocs/s···pecs.htm
Your computer PCI expansion slot is 33Mhz (32bit) ======================
The sound card you order is this: »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···29102178
System Requirements PCI 66Mhz ======================
That could be the reason why it isn't working. |
|
 | The 66 MHz bus cannot be a requirement. Furthermore, the Audigy 2ZS works fine in a 33 MHz PCI slot. (I have one) I shall note; however, that the SW it came with was less than adequate. -- Wacky Races 2012! |
|
 | reply to MEDIAN2k3 Hmmmm I guess another option is to try it on a different pc. If it still doesnt work. Maybe return it?

2 edits | Do you have another computer to try on? Maybe a friend computer. If it doesn't work on the 2nd computer. Better sure something wrong with the sound card.
Another thing you could try. Play like a 5 min mp3 song. If you have a headphone. Use that to plug in to every single jack and see does any of it have sound coming out of it. |

| reply to MEDIAN2k3 Sadly no second PC, I don't think I can get someone else's PC but I will see and I had tried that already all Jack's produce no sound sigh.... -- If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's your's. If it doesn't, it never was to begin with. |

 | Hmmm, nothing out of ordinary can be seen in the screen shots. I vaguely remember Creative Labs having their own control panel with a bunch of settings -- you may want to look what's there. My 2ZS is not installed right now (I accidentally messed up it's host PC while modding the x4 slot ) but if I find it, I can plug the 2ZS into some other PC.
But there's one more thing you can take a look, and that's the system event log: see if there's any entry that can be related to your sound card. -- Wacky Races 2012! |

1 edit | reply to MEDIAN2k3 Creative site is not so good you could be installing the wrong drivers because the site is so bad. I had the Dell version of that sound card, and the only drivers i could get to work right after SP2 on XP was a package edited and posted by a user (Danial K) at the creative forum.
»forums.creative.com/
You have to use the old drivers pack , check the link below and read it #1 post if your system is listed then install that driver otherwise follow the links to other older drives if your system requires them instead. There is also a thread about uninstalling your current drivers before installing the new one, do a search for uninstall drivers completely.
»forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=697079
This is version 4.0 of the support pack, i had always used version 3.1 because my older hardware liked it more, i had a Dell XPS Gen2 form 2003. |
