 | [connectivity] Losing DSL connection about 2 times a day For about half a year, I've been losing internet about twice a day (although some days, I don't lose it at all). Today was one of those days.
I have a D-link DSL-2750B modem/gateway. All of the green lights usually stay lit (power,WLAN, DSL, INTERNET). The connection being lost is wireless, and affects all 3 of our laptops. It was doing this same thing with my former Westell modem, so they sent me the D-link. I've seen no improvement at all, and we've been using it for months now. I've checked connections, and everything seems to be in place.
Today, I had Google Chrome open, and when it went out, I got the following message: "This webpage is not available. The server at www.google.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address."
I did a Windows Diagnostic for the problem (which affected my other browers, too...as well as my other 2 laptops). The result came back: "The DNS server isn't responding. Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or doesn't exist."
Here is a recent Speedtest result:

I don't get it. We're not doing anything out of the ordinary, and this is a new modem/gateway they sent us. The problem continues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

 | This may be a wireless issue with interference. First try connecting by Ethernet cable directly to the modem to bypass wireless. See if this issue persists. If it stops go here http://tools.meraki.com/stumbler#q= and run the APP. See whats going on with the WI-FI channels in your area. Is a neighbor using the same channel ? Change the channel on your router . |

 | Thanks for the tool. Out of 10 others on the list, there is only 1 other person using channel 11 (which I use). My signal strength was rated at 86%, and they are at 46%. Could that still affect my connection? |

 | reply to flamanar I have the same problem. DSL line drops - sometimes for a few seconds, or minutes, or, like today, altogether. I always have a web radio station on - that alerts me to dropped connections. Other times, the dsl lows to a crawl. It's maddening. Any help is appreciated. |

If available 1 and 6 are great choices. If the issue persisted with the Ethernet wire test there may be congestion issues or something else happening down at the CO . Best i can suggest is direct forum. |

 | Thanks for the suggestion. I checked and there are no downloads available for my gateway/router. |
