Replacing feature phone with smartphone my old flip phone finally died and I don't feel like getting a replacement thru verizon otherwise i'd have to commit to a 2 year contract. My friend has an old smartphone previously used with VZW. Can I take his old smartphone and activate it on my voice only line without being forced to buy data plan? I have done phone swaps in the past thru verizons website but it was strictly with feature phones.

reply to Dukeboyz Check out eBay. I recently purchased a replacement VX5500 phone for $30 to replace one of our basic flip phones that had a problem.

reply to Dukeboyz The Pantech "HOTSHOT" was the only smartphone (?) that we could get without the data plan but, still had to sign a 2 year contract. That was last year tho. The phone was free.
