I talked to the GC on Friday. I ended up pulling the garage doors from his responsibility to mine. It was a tax-free week-end so doing it this way I could save a few bucks. I also bought all the door hardware and the rest of the outside lights so I ended up saving about $125 in tax. Nothing major but it will cover the cookout we're having with friends/family once the garage is done.
So the contractor charges you sales tax on materials?
Not positive but I'd imagine it's bundled into the price if there is. Not sure how they'd get out of sale tax on goods so I'd imagine they have to pay it.
