[Tampa] advice on non-dvr HD box for subscriber leaving CableCar
I have finally decided to throw in the towel and replace the CableCard in my Pioneer Elite plasma TV, not because of any issues, but I'm tired of having to go to other rooms to watch 1/2 of the channels because of the evil Switched Video. I won't go into detail about how I feel the use of SV is unnecessary (but I've yet to be convinced that it IS). I just need to ask for advice on which non-DVR HD box in my area I'm least likely to object to. I chose a Cable Card in my premium TV mainly for: one less ugly box to be displayed, near instant switching from channel to channel, WAY less power consumption (the Pace and Cisco boxes we have or have had in other rooms can fry a steak when OFF), less interference in the signal path for a superior picture, and the absence of "boots" and associated downtime several time a day. I can put up with spending a few hours initially to program the box to only display channels I will watch, bypass the pay-per-view crap, etc., but the other reasons will make it hard for me to live with a box again on my main system. So is their a choice and if so which would I object to least? Picture quality is #1 in my needs. Thanks in advance.
