 | [DSL] Does Teksavvy Throttle during peak hours? Every night between 8-11pm if I try to transfer something via ftp I get horrific speeds around 60 KB/s then as soon as it gets passed 11pm my speeds skyrocket back up to 600 KB/s.
This is one of the reasons i left Rogers and I'm really starting to get frustrated with this. |

TekSavvy does not throttle its customer's usage. I would recommend posting in the Direct Forum (» TekSavvy Direct) and we can take a look into your account for you.

|
 | reply to thcmacgyver I thought it might be congestion too but it seems odd that it's so consistent every night.
I guess I'll just make a post in the direct forum. |

| When there was congestion in London the time of day was pretty consistant coinciding with peak hours. Sunday eves were a bit worse for whatever reason. I still find minor slow downs during peak time (Sunday a bit worse) but nothing to get too worked up about.
Definately do post in the direct forum (and anyone else who is having the same issue). It's the best way for them to track it. |

| reply to afterburn999 Teksavvy itself does not throttle. However, the last mile providers have been known to do so, as well as the so called DPI (Deep packet inspection) stuff. Last that I remember they've stopped doing this and its being rolled out accross the various area's by each incumbent on their own schedule. But NO, TSI doesn't ever throttle you, so you can lay that bit to rest until otherwise proven. -- You see there is only one constant. One universal. It is the only real truth. Causality. 1 edit | reply to afterburn999 I've experienced the same thing with bell using FTP during those times, quick fix is to reset your modem. Gonna try vpn ftp tonight and see if its throttling or not.
Update:
- Ftp speeds were reduced after 10pm EST from 700kbs to 64kbs. - Turned on VPN service and speeds went up to 500kb/s as thats the average speed with the VPN. - Turned VPN off, restarted modem and speeds back to normal so far 10mins into downloading. |

Source: Measurement Lab via Syracuse University School of Information Studies Thats also outdated information from beginning of 2012 - from before Bell stopped throttling end of March 2012. All of TSI's 36% of p2p being throttled was on DSL (again, before Bell killed throttling), because Bell forced throttling on all of their customers, as well as GAS ISPs' customers.
Rogers has never throttled TSI Cable. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

 | I just removed mlppp/static ip from my account and switched to a new router. I'm not being throttled at all. I was downloading torrents right up to my max download speed. |
