[Rant] Google Search

How does my search term not carry over when clicking news, after a search.

For example if search pizza, then click images its a search for google images of pizza, why does the search term not carry over to the news section.

Seems like an easy code to fix.

Never noticed that. Images, Maps, and Youtube work. But News, Play, Gmail, Drive, and Calendar don't. That is all I checked. Interesting.

It annoys me too. You have to use the menu on the left side, and not at the top.

Thank you, I thought I was the only one who thought it used to carry over but recently had noticed it wasn't anymore. Extremely irritating.

Dump Google, go with Bing, you'll never look back.

LOL. Post of the day.

I also have the same problem as the OP, I hate it. I guess I'll have to use the left side menu more...

Uh, but it would be really easy to "fix" it. Just carry the search term over like they do for images, youtube, etc. It's clearly intended behavior though because it hasn't worked that way for over a year, and Google isn't the kind of company that would let a bug like that go unfixed because it's too difficult to fix.

My guess is they want to push Google News as more of a portal than a search utility. If they didn't just show you the homepage when you click News from a regular search, most people would never see the homepage at all. Either that or they found that when people click News, they expect the homepage and it was confusing people when it brought them to a search result.

Maybe - I really don't know what goes on behind the scenes at Google's various services. I was just being snotty, as a programmer that has often heard the words 'seems like it would be easy to...' coming from people who haven't ever looked at the code.

You are right I don't code, but Google does. And i doubt something that used to be standard, would be hard to revert to.
