 | reply to dvd536 Strange that my Motorola DOCSIS 3.0 modem (first an SB6120 and now an SB6180) works perfectly, even though it is "JUNK". |

bbeesleyVIP join:2003-08-07 Richardson, TX kudos:5 | the answer is, "because they aren't"
people seem to forget that correlation is not causation and that a handful of claims of failures noted on a public forum do not equal a mass issue with a device
Cox tracks that type of thing pretty closely because they work to keep their transactional costs down. If they had them failing wholesale, they would have either gotten Moto to fix it or dropped them like a hot potato. |

If they had them failing wholesale, they would have either gotten Moto to fix it or dropped them like a hot potato. I don't necessarily agree. While there are plenty of folks that are perfectly happy with their 6121's, mine was the cause of *all* of my connectivity problems. It wouldn't stay connected for 5 minutes without locking up or rebooting. Techs dispatched, CoxTech1 helping out too. Nothing worked. Replaced with a Zoom 5341...as I type this...uptime 3437h:10m:22s. and the modem's syslog has 10 entries...all due to changes made in my router's configuration that require a restart/reboot of the router (Ethernet link down and up). This is good enough for me to prove causation. |

| reply to acid343211 the Cisco firmware doesn't support it, you would to load something like DDWRT.(which your router does support)
That would however give you direct numbers you could compare against the usage meter. |

 | They do. It's on the Internet Tools page when you log into My Account.
Not a bad idea for you to monitor it at the router, though, and compare. Trust, but verify. |

It sounded like you thought it was impossibly high due to the fact that you have a secure network and it was something to do with leaving your cable modem on? |
