Renewal Deals?

So I see people mention that if I wait until it's just about renewal time, I can usually get a decent deal. I'm hoping for the standard $189/24 months.

How do you get notified of renewal deals? Do you get an email about it or have to log into the control panel to see it or something like that?

I'm starting to look around to compare prices but would love to stay with VT since I've been with them for so long (ever since SunRocket went belly up).

I'm not up for renewal for a a few more months but am just trying to plan ahead.

So do they email me with these offers when I get closer or do I need to go look for them myself?

FWIW, was 90 days away from renewal a week ago. Have been getting the pop up for $189 + 6 months free every time I log into the CP. Pop up has been showing up daily for a week so far. I keep saying no thanks and it keeps popping up daily. Waiting to see what I get at 45 days. Hopefully, $189 and one free year as expected. Just the pop up. No emails so far.

Same here. I've been seeing the free 6 months deal every time for a while now. If I can't get the free 12 months, I may just switch to Google voice. We'll have to see.

Mine switched over to the 12 months free a couple days ago... Probably around 45 days from the renewal date.

My account runs out on Jan. 14 and I just got an email today, Nov. 14. So I guess it's about 60 days when you get the email (with the +6 months add-on).

This looks like a change from early last year:

»Re: 12 months free? (when you renew for 12 months)

Then it was 12+6 at 90 days and 12+12 at 45 days from the end of your contract.

I swear I saw another thread about this a few weeks ago. Someone saying they noticed the $189 6 months deal at around 90 days also. I remember it because I am also due in Jan, 25th (I think) and I started getting the popup about a week later.

I actually decided to port over to Google Voice. Can buy an Obi100 or Obi110 for $40-$50 or so and it turns GV into a whole house phone. And GV is free.

Viatalk has been great but if it's $100/yr or $40/life, the cheaper number wins.

I've been getting the 12+6 popup for about a month on the control panel web site (starting 90 days from expiration), but no email until today (60 days from expiration). The email contained the 12+6 offer, so I haven't seen the 12+12 yet.

Mine renews on 1/17 and I got the email on 11/17 with the 12+6 offer. Fifteen days from 11/17 and should see the 12+12 offer. So, 60 days from renewal the email shows up.

Email was in my spam folder.

So, I am at the 45 day mark for renewal. Got another email last night for 12+6. Logged in earlier today and same 12+6 offer. Just logged in again and got the 12+12 I had been looking for to re-up. Strange.

Did the same to me today. Started with email 12 + 6 but after logging in later got the 12 + 12 deal.

I am at my 45 day mark also.

Just renewed and got the 12+12 deal. Seemed like about the 30-45 day mark the deal went from 12+6 to 12+12. Glad I held out. Was really on the fence about even keeping "land-line" service.

Does anybody opt to try to pre-paid taxes and 911 service? I have done that in the past, but the accountants at Via Talk can never apparently get it right so I end up my 2 year plan with about $20-30 credit available. I much rather prepay the extra $30-60 now so I don't have to see a $3 charge every month. Anybody else go that way and have success?

Same thing here. 90 days is 12+6, 45 days is 12+12. I'm now in until 3/15. I'm at 7 years of being a customer and this deal will bring me up to 9. It just quietly keeps working for me.
